Joseph Goebbels

Paul Joseph Goebbels (prononcé, en allemand, [ˈɡœbəls ]), né le 29 octobre 1897 à Rheydt2 et mort par suicide à Berlin le 1er mai 1945, fut un des plus puissants dirigeants du Troisième Reich. Ministre du Reich à l’Éducation du peuple et à la Propagande sous le Troisième Reich de 1933 à 1945, son nom reste indissolublement lié à l'emploi des techniques modernes de la manipulation des masses et de la démagogie qu'ont été capables de diffuser les propagandes des États totalitaires. Joseph Goebbels était un proche d'Adolf Hitler et, avec Hermann Göring et Heinrich Himmler, un des responsables les plus puissants et influents du Troisième Reich. Antisémite acharné, et aussi antichrétien radical3, il joua un rôle moteur dans les persécutions contre les Juifs allemands notamment en déclenchant la Nuit de Cristal. Il est brièvement chancelieraprès le suicide de Hitler. Goebbels s'est donné la mort à Berlin le 1er mai 1945, afin d'échapper à tout jugement, avec son épouse Magda, après qu'elle eut fait empoisonner leurs six enfants.
